Kildare Bat Group have an extensive list of project work under-way in County Kildare.
The group organizes the Kildare surveys of waterway sites as part of the National Daubenton Survey run by Bat Conservation Ireland. This survey is building an important database of population distribution across the country, and also allows population trends to be identified.
The survey sites are detailed on the map and listing below. If you are interested in surveying these or any additional site please do get in touch.
Several bat roosts are surveyed every year to detemine population trends. If you are aware of a bat roost on your property please get in touch and we will be happy to survey it for you.
The bat-group leads several walks every year, explaining and pointing out these much-understood mammels to communities in Kildare.
The bat-group works with property owners and Tidy-Town groups to encourage bat conservation. Bat boxes, for example, have been installed in cooperation with Clane Tidy Towns, and with Coillte in Donadea Forest Park, with the support of Heritage Council and Kildare County Council funding.
